Zelensky expressed readiness for a ceasefire for Easter
Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that Ukraine is ready to introduce a ceasefire with the Russian Federation for the Easter holidays. He said this during a conversation with journalists.
In response to a journalist’s question about whether Kyiv plans to offer Moscow an Easter truce and what international guarantees are needed so that the Russian Federation “does not use this pause to strengthen its military positions,” Zelensky noted:
“We supported any formats for ending the war, and you know it. But when you do not lose the dignity and independence of our state and a ceasefire in any format, as we have already said today, both complete and energetic, and we are ready for a ceasefire for the Easter holidays. In my opinion, if “Honestly, normal people who respect life are talking about a ceasefire and an end to the war for life, not for a few days,” the president stressed.
According to him, Ukraine is ready to make any compromises, except for “compromises with our dignity and sovereignty.”
Speaking about the possible risks of strengthening the Russian Federation’s military positions during the so-called “Easter truce,” Zelensky emphasized that “they will not be able to strengthen anything in two or three days, we remember what they promised and what they could not do in three days.”
