24 million hryvnias will be allocated from the state budget for a new film about Stepan Bandera

It is planned to allocate 24 million hryvnias from the state budget for the shooting of a new film about Stepan Bandera. About this testifies tender in the Prozorro system. The full-length feature film will be called “Why I Killed Bandera”.

The tender was announced by the State Film Agency of Ukraine. The winner was the film company “Hanzafilm”, which regularly receives state funds for the production of films. We will remind that in 1959 Stepan Bandera was eliminated by KGB agent Bohdan Stashynskyi. It is currently unknown whether the film will be about him.

At first, it was believed that Stepan Bandera died of a heart attack. However, the results of the medical examination showed that the real cause of death was potassium cyanide poisoning. The OUN leader was buried at the Munich Waldfriedhof cemetery.

Two years later, KGB agent Bohdan Stashynsky surrendered to the West German authorities. He confessed to the assassination of Lev Rebet and Stepan Bandera, members of the OUN. Both were executed with a special gun that released acid fumes that were fatal to the victim.

In 2009, for the 100th anniversary of the birth of Stepan Bandera, the creative team led by the president of the National Television Company of Ukraine, Vasyl Ilashchuk, created a two-hour documentary “The Price of Freedom”. The author of the idea and patron of the project was People’s Deputy of Ukraine Viktor Shvets.
