76,000 people have been evacuated from the Kursk region, the Russian Federation is sending reinforcements to the border

After the Armed Forces of Ukraine began military operations on Russian territory, Moscow stepped up its efforts to evacuate citizens and provide humanitarian aid. According to the latest data, 76,000 people have already been evacuated from the Kursk region. This is reported by the Russian mass media with reference to the Ministry of Emergency Situations.
On Friday, the Russian authorities began moving additional forces to Kursk. Four days after Ukrainian troops crossed the border, Moscow declared a “federal-level” state of emergency in the region.
The evacuation of residents of the Kursk region continues in connection with the combat operations of Ukrainian troops on its territory. According to the latest data, more than 16,000 residents have already arrived in Kursk, where they have set up a tent city. Residents fleeing hostilities are also accepted by other settlements, including Orel.
According to the Kremlin, the Russian military and border guards did not allow Ukrainian troops to advance deep into the country. The authorities also said that Ukrainian units that tried to advance to this area from the Sumy region of Ukraine were pushed back.
According to the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, the advance of Ukrainian troops in the border area was stopped approximately 500 kilometers southwest of Moscow. However, military bloggers and information from open sources indicate that Ukrainian forces have achieved success in several districts of the Kursk region. Analysts discuss the significance of this maneuver of the Armed Forces from a tactical point of view, and also make predictions about the further development of events on the front and their impact on possible negotiations.
According to the latest data, one of the settlements was brought back under the control of Russian troops, but it is impossible to get confirmation from independent sources.
Special attention is focused on the situation in the city of Kurchatovsk, where power outages occurred, as well as on the nuclear power plant located there. Russia informed the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) that on the territory of the Kursk NPP, against the background of the offensive of the Ukrainian army, debris from downed missiles was found, which causes serious concern.
The battles in Kursk attracted considerable attention of the Russian mass media. Most of the materials related to the humanitarian situation – children were transported to shelters on buses, and residents of other regions of Russia collected food and basic necessities to send to Kursk.
According to reports, about 20 temporary shelters were created in Kursk, where more than 1,200 people were accommodated. As people continue to flee the fighting, more shelters will be opened.
