India closes airports amid tensions with Pakistan

Indian airlines have suspended flights from more than twenty airports located in the northern and western regions of the country due to the escalation of the conflict with Pakistan. Both states continue to exchange strikes using various types of weapons, including drones. About this informs Associated Press.
According to the Ministry of Civil Aviation of India, 24 airports were closed. These include Amritsar Airport in Punjab, near Lahore, and Srinagar Airport in Kashmir, which borders Pakistan. Indian domestic airlines have warned passengers that flights will not operate until at least Saturday.
Indigo, India’s largest domestic airline, canceled 165 flights on Wednesday. About the same number of canceled flights were recorded in Air India and Air India Express.
At the same time, according to the announcement of the Civil Aviation Authority of Pakistan, air traffic in the country has been fully restored after the temporary suspension of operations at four airports. On the night of May 9, India and Pakistan exchanged strikes, including using drones.
We will remind that the escalation of tensions between the countries began after an attack in Kashmir on a group of tourists, as a result of which 26 people died. India blamed Pakistan for the attack and took a number of retaliatory measures, suspending the issuance of new visas to Pakistani citizens and revoking existing ones.
Pakistan’s defense minister denied his country’s involvement in the April 22 attack and called for an international investigation. At the same time, he said that in view of the development of the situation, India’s military invasion of the territory of Pakistan is only a matter of time.
