Ukrainian hackers are involved in the attack on the central TV channels of the Russian Federation
Ukrainian hackers celebrated Putin’s birthday with a large-scale cyber attack on the All-Russian State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company (VDTRK), informs Ukrinform with reference to sources in law enforcement agencies.
From the very morning, hackers paralyzed the online broadcasting of key propaganda TV channels, such as “Russia 1”, “Russia 24”, “Russia Culture”, RTR “Planeta”, as well as more than 20 other channels. According to sources, in addition to online broadcasts, television broadcasting in Russia was also stopped.
The interlocutor noted that VDTRK employees complain that all data on the servers has been destroyed, including backup copies. Neither online services, nor the Internet, nor even telephony work.
Responsibility for the attack was claimed by the pro-Ukrainian hacker group “Sudo rm-RF”, which has repeatedly carried out powerful cyber attacks against Russia. The details of the attack are still awaited, the interlocutor said.
This attack is part of a series of actions by Ukrainian hackers against Russia. Earlier, it became known about cyber attacks on financial institutions of the Russian Federation, in particular Alfa Bank and Rostelecom.
Russian media reports that the situation with the restoration of the work of the VDTRK is extremely serious and may take a considerable time. At this time, the company is completely disconnected from the Internet and telephony, and the data on the servers is completely erased, including backup copies.
In August, Ukrainian hackers also attacked Crimean television, airing a video with a speech by the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi.
