Ukrainian drone operator sets world record by shooting down Shaheds at a distance of 500 km
A Ukrainian drone operator with the call sign “Hulk” set a unique world record by destroying two Russian Shahed drones at a distance of 500 kilometers from the control point.
The operation was carried out by the Bulava unit, which actively uses the latest technologies to combat enemy drones. The Ukrainian STING interceptor drone, which was specially created to destroy the Shaheds, was used for the interception. Its main characteristics include a speed of over 340 km/h, an operating altitude of up to 3 km, and the principle of operation is to intercept a target and hit it with a ram.
In fact, this is a cheap and at the same time effective way to destroy expensive or mass-produced kamikaze drones.
The record was made possible thanks to the Hornet Vision Ctrl system, which provides high-quality video transmission, allows you to control the drone with minimal delay and operate hundreds of kilometers from the operator. Thus, the operator can be far behind the scenes, but at the same time fully control the air battle.
This case was not only a record, but also a serious technological breakthrough, because previously drones operated effectively at a distance of 20-30 km, and now – at hundreds of kilometers under the control of one crew. This makes it possible to cover large areas of airspace with minimal resource consumption.
The unit emphasizes that this is no longer an experiment, but the beginning of a large-scale implementation. According to the military, in March 2026, Ukraine destroyed more than 2,300 air targets, which is 55% more than in February.
A significant role in this is played by cheap interceptor drones, systems with artificial intelligence elements, and mobile air defense groups. Ukrainian technological solutions are already attracting interest from partners, in particular in the Middle East, where drones are also used very actively.
