A cyber attack caused disruptions at the airports of Berlin and Brussels
Check-in and boarding systems in a number of European airports have become the object of a cyberattack, with Berlin and Brussels airports the most affected. reports Spiegel.
Berlin Airport said that the attack was not aimed directly at the airport, but at a third-party provider of passenger service systems.
“Due to a technical fault in the provider’s system used throughout Europe, waiting times for registration have increased. We are working on a quick solution to the problem, they said.
Brussels Airport has confirmed that it has also been affected by the cyberattack and only manual check-in is currently available.
“Passengers are advised to check the status of their flight directly with the airline and arrive at the airport in advance”, the administration stressed.
London Heathrow Airport also reported possible delays, although they explained the situation as a “technical problem” from a third-party supplier. Currently, there is no exact information on which other European airports have experienced failures.
