A large-scale blackout occurred in Spain, Portugal and France (video)

On April 28, a large-scale power outage paralyzed Spain, Portugal and the rest of France. About this informs edition of Politico.
The blackout covered many cities — from Madrid to Lisbon. A large part of the Iberian Peninsula remained without electricity. Operator Red Eléctrica said protocols have been activated to restore power after a major outage.
“The reasons are analyzed, all resources are directed to elimination.” Red Eléctrica said in a statement.
Due to the blackout in Spain and Portugal, the traffic lights were out of order, the metro and railway services were suspended. Despite the presence of generators in hospitals in both countries, staff were ordered to turn off computers and take additional measures to conserve electricity. There are currently no forecasts for the duration of the blackout.
“A crisis committee has been established to manage the situation in Spain. At this stage, there is no evidence as to the cause of the large-scale power outage. A cyber attack cannot be ruled out, the investigation is ongoing,” – reported in the Spanish government.
Spanish authorities have urged citizens not to call emergency services for information as phone lines are already overloaded.
The Portuguese operator E-Redes reported that the power outage was due to “problems in the European energy system.” The reasons for the incident are being clarified. Power outages also affected Andorra and France.
