A medical university graduate who came to receive her diploma was killed during Russian shelling in Kharkiv

In Kharkiv on the afternoon of June 29, a 23-year-old medical university graduate, Fatima Ilyas kizy Huseynova, was killed in Russian shelling. Her friend was seriously injured. The girls were rushing to a photo shoot on the eve of their graduation.

Fatima’s acquaintances told that after the start of the full-scale war, she and her friend studied remotely and lived in their native Azerbaijan. In June of this year, the girls came to Ukraine to receive their diplomas. The solemn ceremony was to take place on June 30. The day before, the students agreed on a photo shoot and also received gowns, which they planned to prepare for the holiday at home.

“Everyone had already come for the photo shoot, waiting for them together. They were happy, they were in a hurry,” – the students’ classmates.

However, on the way, the future doctors came under Russian shelling. According to Radio Liberty, Fatima’s torn academic cap was found a few meters from her body.

The friend of the deceased survived, but is in the hospital in serious condition. She received burns to 90% of her body.

Kharkiv National Medical University confirmed that Fatima was a 6th year student at the medical faculty.

“Fatima was a future doctor who chose the path of serving people. She persistently gained knowledge, dreamed of dedicating her life to medicine and saving human lives. Bright, kind, sincere, responsible and caring – that is exactly how she will forever remain in the memory of teachers, classmates, friends and everyone who knew her.

Her life was cut short too early due to another Russian strike, which took away another innocent young person, depriving her of her future, profession, dreams and plans,” the university said in a statement.
