A meeting of the UN Security Council was held in New York regarding the violation of Estonian airspace by Russian aircraft

In New York, at the request of Estonia, an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council was held due to the violation of the country’s airspace by the Russian Air Force’s airspace.

First Deputy Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the UN Dmytro Polyansky rejected Tallinn’s accusations:

“Our neighbors have now realized that the violation of Estonian airspace was the fault of the Russian Federation. As usual, there is no evidence.

Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna provided evidence of the invasion of Russian planes, refuting Moscow’s claims of “no violations”.

“This violation is absolutely obvious, and Russia is lying again – as it has lied more than once. We remember the occupation of Georgia in 2008, the Crimea in 2014, and the full-scale aggression against Ukraine in 2022. So please don’t lie again. There is solid evidence, Tsahkna emphasized.

The head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Andriy Sybiga, said that such incidents must be neutralized immediately. He reminded that ten days ago, the UN Security Council was already meeting because of the flight of Russian drones on the territory of Poland.

“Today we are meeting with an urgent request by Estonia after three Russian planes violated its airspace. What will happen next? What other urgent meeting will we have to hold in the coming weeks? Which country will be the next to face Russian provocations? ” – stressed Sybiga.

He emphasized that the threat “should not be accompanied – not for twelve minutes, not for one minute”:

“She needs to be neutralized. We confirm our readiness to integrate air defense. This is our European sky — over Ukraine and other European countries. This is our shared security space. And we must have a common shield of heaven to protect us all. Ukraine is the only country in the world that resists regular massive air attacks by more than half a thousand drones and missiles. We are ready to share experience and join forces.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Poland, Radosław Sikorski, warned Russia about the inadmissibility of violations of NATO airspace and stated that the West will not allow itself to be intimidated:

“If the violations were accidental, why not immediately admit them and apologize? We have already given Russia such a “pass” in the past, but instead of an apology, they got only lies”.

Sikorsky emphasized that the repeated incidents are part of Russia’s multi-year hybrid war against the West:

“We know you don’t care about international law. Your insane nationalism seeks domination that will not end until you realize that the age of empires is over. Every blow of the Ukrainian heroes brings closer the day when it will become obvious, the minister said, addressing the representative of the Russian Federation directly.
