A Polish deputy was suspended from work for advising a Ukrainian taxi driver to return to his country.

“In Poland, a member of the Gdańsk City Council from the alliance “Civil Coalition” Sylvia Tsison was fired from her job after she insulted a Ukrainian taxi driver, telling him to “go back to your country.” This is reported by RFM24.

At first, Tsison published a photo of the drip on social networks and a post where she talked about the incident during a taxi ride to the stadium in Gdańsk for the match of “Lechia” against “GKS Katowice”. She claimed that the driver from Ukraine allegedly first picked her up with her children in the wrong place, and then dropped her off at the wrong place. According to the politician, the taxi driver did not speak Polish well, and after her remark, he started shouting abuse, tried to spit, use tear gas, and also took out a canister of gasoline and splashed it in her face.

Later, this post disappeared from Tison’s social networks. After that, the taxi driver provided trojmiasto.pl with a video from the recorder. On the recording, you can hear that the man speaks Polish fluently and calmly responds to remarks, while the deputy uses obscene language and tells him to “go back to your country”. There are no signs of the use of a gas canister in the video.

After the scandal, Tsyson asked to suspend her membership in the club of advisors of the “Civic Coalition” in the city council and in the Polish Initiative party. This request was granted. She apologized for the profanity, but said that the video only shows part of the incident and does not reflect the whole situation, insisting that the taxi driver did use tear gas against her.

In addition to being a deputy, Tsyson holds the position of director in the office of the Minister of Education Barbara Novatska. The minister reported that “until the issue is resolved” membership of Tsison in the “Polish Initiative” suspended.

The case is currently being investigated by the police. Tsison accuses the driver of violating her personal integrity and using pepper spray, while the taxi driver himself filed a complaint against the politician for insulting her on national grounds. According to the laws of Poland, violation of personal integrity is a criminal offense punishable by up to one year in prison, and up to three years in prison for an insult on national grounds.
