Gemini on Android will be able to recognize music

The Gemini app for Android now supports Song Search: now AI can identify music at a user’s request. About this informs 9to5Google.

Previously, when the user asked to identify the name of a track, Gemini only advised to “install a separate application for recognizing tracks.” The chatbot now automatically opens Google Search and starts the song search function, and the results are displayed directly in the Google app.

Before that, Google Assistant provided this function, but after switching to Gemini, access to song search became less convenient — users had to “add a shortcut to the home screen” or manually activate it in the settings.

Although the new implementation is not fully native (results are not displayed directly in the Gemini interface), it restores an important feature that many users lost after switching from Google Assistant. This innovation has been available on Android in recent weeks. The function is not yet available on iOS.

Gemini is gradually replacing Google Assistant on Android devices, and the process is expected to be completed by the end of 2025. Google is positioning Gemini as a more versatile AI-powered tool that can “answer more complex queries, interact with on-screen content, and perform advanced functions.”
