A serviceman of the territorial center of recruitment and social support was detained in Zaporizhzhia on suspicion of murder. This was reported by the local CCK and SP, specifying that the suspect’s actions are qualified under Part One of Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which provides for liability for intentional murder.
The detention took place on December 7, 2025 with the participation of representatives of the National Police of Ukraine. The suspect is currently in the Zaporizhia Pre-Trial Detention Center.
The territorial center emphasized that the actions of the serviceman were not related to his official duties and had no relation to his performance of military tasks.
“We categorically condemn the suspect’s behavior. What he is accused of does not correspond to military honor, the duty of a defender, and the principles of service in the CCK and the SP. Military uniform does not exempt from responsibility, but on the contrary, it imposes additional moral weight on the act,” the statement said.
The leadership of the Zaporizhia Regional CCC and SP assured that it provides law enforcement officers with full assistance in establishing all the circumstances of the incident and is interested in an objective and prompt investigation.
In addition, the center expressed sincere condolences to the family of the deceased Yuriy Yankovsky, emphasizing that no words can bring back life, but they will do everything possible to ensure that the guilty person receives the deserved punishment.
