After NATO allies refused to support the operation against Iran, Trump said that he did not need help from anyone.
US President Donald Trump commented on the decision of most NATO allies not to participate in a military operation against the “terrorist regime of Iran in the Middle East”, stating that the United States never needed their support. He reported this on his social network Truth Social.
“However, I am not surprised by their actions, because I have always considered NATO, where we spend hundreds of billions of dollars a year defending these same countries, to be a one-way street – we will defend them, but they will do nothing for us, especially in difficult times,” — Trump wrote.
He also stated that the United States had defeated the Iranian army, destroying its navy, aviation and air defense systems, and most importantly — “virtually all the leaders have disappeared, never to threaten us (the United States – ed.), our allies in Middle East or the whole world”.
Trump stressed that after “such a military success” the United States no longer needs help from NATO countries, and added that they “never wanted it”.
“In fact, as the president of the United States of America, the most powerful country in the world, we do not need help from anyone!”, — wrote the head of the White House.
On March 14, Trump appealed to several countries in Europe and Asia to send warships to protect shipping in the Strait of Hormuz, which was effectively blocked due to the threat of strikes from Iran.
On March 16, it became known that Spain, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom, Germany and the European Union refused to provide ships to unblock the Strait of Hormuz.
