AMCU advocates transparent competition in the field of car evacuation and accuses local authorities of violations

The Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine (AMCU) declares systematic violations of the law and protection of economic competition in the field of evacuation of detained cars. In this regard, the committee urged the Cabinet of Ministers to introduce competitive mechanisms to attract companies to this activity.

For data AMCU, local governments and the police often identify providers of transport evacuation and storage services without the use of competitive procedures. This leads to overpricing and abuse of the monopoly position in the market.

One of the key problems was the lack of clear rules regarding the conduct of tenders, in particular, selection criteria, deadlines for submitting applications and a mechanism for evaluating proposals. Also, the legislation does not provide for the use of a price selection criterion, which makes it impossible to create a competitive environment.

At the meeting on November 21, the committee addressed the government with a proposal to settle these issues at the regulatory and legal level. AMCU also emphasized the need to develop a methodology for the formation of the cost of services, which will ensure transparency and competitiveness in this area.

Such changes are designed to eliminate violations and help reduce prices for evacuation services, ensuring a level playing field for companies and protecting the interests of consumers.
