Armenia may withdraw from the CSTO and the EAEU if Russia raises gas prices
Speaker of the Armenian Parliament Alen Simonyan said that the country may launch the process of withdrawing from the Collective Security Treaty Organization and the Eurasian Economic Union if Russia raises the price of gas supplies.
As reported by the Armenian news agency NEWS.am, he said this during a briefing before an extraordinary meeting of the Civil Contract party, commenting on the meeting of Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan with Putin.
According to Simonyan, such discussions are not the first time, but he is convinced that a tariff increase will not occur.
“I don’t think it will come to that, because I also know that after that there was a very good, productive and fruitful conversation between the leaders of the countries. I hope that the Prime Minister will tell you which part he considers correct, but at the same time, yes, I admit that this conversation is not often brought up for public review at meetings of the two countries, but at the same time the Prime Minister of Armenia expressed his opinion and the opinion of Armenia,” Simonyan stressed.
He also noted that Armenia “has not done anything against Russia, does not do anything and does not plan to do anything” in the future, but at the same time will defend its own state interests interests.
