As a result of the terrorist attack in Jerusalem, 5 people were killed and at least 12 were injured
In Jerusalem, at the Ramot intersection, unknown persons opened fire on a passenger bus. According to data of the Israeli Ambulance Service, five people died as a result of the attack, and more than 12 were injured.
The shooting happened on September 8 around 10:15. At first, 15 victims were reported, later medics clarified that four men — one in his 50s and three in his 30s — died on the spot. Another wounded person died in the hospital.
More than 12 people were injured: seven are in serious condition with gunshot wounds, two are moderate and three are in light condition. Some were taken to hospitals, others were treated on the spot. Two attackers were neutralized — they were shot by law enforcement officers. It is known beforehand that these are Palestinians from the West Bank.
According to preliminary data, the attackers used a home-made submachine gun “Carlo”, also known as “Carl Gustav”. Such weapons are manufactured in illegal workshops in the West Bank and have been used repeatedly in similar attacks. Law enforcement officers and law enforcement agencies are working at the scene of the incident.
Hamas militants called the shooting a “heroic operation”.
“We confirm that this operation is a natural response to the crimes of the occupiers and the war of extermination they are waging against our people”, their statement reads.
At the same time, Hamas did not claim responsibility for the attack, but called on Palestinians in the West Bank to “step up the confrontation with the occupation and its settlers”.
