Australian developers have introduced the most powerful portable laser for destroying drones

Australian Ministry of Defence demonstrated a revolutionary development – a portable Fractl laser installation capable of destroying drones at a distance of up to 1,500 meters. This innovative weapon, the size of a suitcase, is ten times cheaper and lighter than its counterparts, weighing no more than 50 kg.
Accuracy and efficiency
Fractl hits drones with high precision, allowing the operator to select specific nodes to destroy. It can be a camera, a propeller, or even ammunition in the suspension. Thanks to a laser beam with a diameter of 23.6 mm, the installation is able to hit a target moving at a speed of up to 100 km/h. At a distance of up to 1,000 meters, the laser can set fire to drone components, and at a distance of up to 1,500 meters, it can destroy camera sensors.
Ease of use
Controlling Fractl is intuitive: the operator presses a button to track the drone, and the computer takes over further control. Another button activates the laser. The operator can quickly switch the sight between different parts of the drone, which ensures quick and effective destruction of the target.
Energy efficiency
Despite its power, the Fractl is an energy-efficient weapon. The developers claim that the energy consumption during laser operation does not exceed the cost of boiling water in a kettle.
Additions to Slinger
This new development complements the Slinger anti-drone system, which Australia has already transferred to Ukraine. The Slinger is mounted on civilian pickups and demonstrates the high accuracy of the impression of drones thanks to the combination of a 30 mm cannon, a machine gun, an optical-electronic system and a radar.
