Beijing’s talk of peace in Ukraine makes no sense: Blinken

US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken expressed concern about China’s support for Russia’s defense and industrial complex, stressing that Beijing’s statements about peace in Ukraine are meaningless. He made this statement during a meeting with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi. informs Reuters.

Blinken emphasized that about 70% of machine tools and 90% of microelectronics that Russia imports come from China and Hong Kong. These shipments help Moscow produce missiles, armored vehicles and ammunition used in the war against Ukraine.

“When Beijing says that, on the one hand, it wants peace, it wants to see an end to the conflict, and on the other hand, it allows its companies to take measures that actually help Putin continue his aggression, it doesn’t make sense.”Blinken noted.

He also emphasized the importance of pressuring China, Iran and North Korea to stop providing Russia with weapons, artillery, equipment and other support that allows Moscow to continue fighting in Ukraine.

At the meeting of the UN Security Council on September 24, China issued a statement in which it urged not to expand the war zone and avoid attacks on nuclear power plants. At the same time, Beijing continues to promote its “peace plan”, which provides for an immediate ceasefire, the refusal to supply weapons to Ukraine and the lifting of sanctions against Russia.
