BMW is recalling 1.5 million cars due to a defect in the brake system

BMW recalls 1.5 million cars due to malfunctions in the braking system, informs BILD. The problems are related to the integrated braking system (IBS), which is supplied by third-party manufacturers. Although the company did not provide detailed information about the nature of the defect, it is already known that it will lead to significant additional costs for warranty service, estimated in the hundreds of millions of euros.

Due to these problems, BMW was forced to revise its financial forecasts for the current year, which caused the company’s shares to fall by 7%. The downward trend in share prices continues.

This situation is not unique to the German auto industry. Volkswagen has also recently announced significant job cuts and possible plant closures due to economic difficulties.

It will be recalled that at the end of August, BMW recalled 720,796 cars in the USA due to the risk of a short circuit. As part of this recall, dealers inspected and replaced the water pump and connectors free of charge, and installed a protective shield to prevent further problems.

The company said it had received 18 complaints or reports of concern related to the short circuit. Fortunately, however, no accidents or injuries have been reported due to these malfunctions.
