Bodies of another 528 dead Ukrainian servicemen returned to Ukraine

As a result of the next repatriation measures, the bodies of 528 deceased were returned to Ukraine, who, according to the Russian side, may belong to Ukrainian servicemen. This was reported by the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War.

In the near future, law enforcement investigators and experts from expert institutions will carry out a set of necessary procedures to establish the identity of each deceased.

Identification will include forensic and other specialized examinations. Only after the final confirmation of the individuals will the bodies be handed over to the families for proper burial.

The Coordination Headquarters noted that the repatriation was possible thanks to the joint and coordinated work of representatives of the security and defense forces, law enforcement agencies, and specialized state institutions. Earlier, within the framework of similar measures, Ukraine has already managed to return the bodies of 1,000 deceased persons, for which expert procedures are also currently underway.

The process of returning the bodies of fallen defenders is an important component of the state policy and humanitarian missions of Ukraine. The state continues systematic work in this direction, involving all available international legal mechanisms so that each deceased serviceman is identified and buried with military honors.
