Canada announces new $1.5 billion military aid package to Ukraine
Canada announced a new package of military aid to Ukraine in the amount of 2 billion Canadian dollars, which is about 1.5 billion US dollars. About this informs Yahoo.
“We provide additional military assistance: drones, helicopters, various ammunition. In general, we are talking about more than 2 billion dollars. direct military aid to Ukraine”, – said Prime Minister of Canada Mark Carney.
In addition, Canada announced a significant expansion of sanctions against Russia.
“We announce sanctions against several individuals and more than 40 institutions in Russia and other countries that contribute to the evasion of sanctions. Restrictions are also being introduced against more than 200 ships of the “shadow fleet” – noted the Prime Minister.
He also announced a new loan for Ukraine in the amount of 2 billion dollars, which will be financed by interest from frozen Russian assets.
“This is our contribution. We will work with European and other allies so that they also contribute, and we have clearly shown that our support will remain unwavering until Ukrainians receive a just peace.” Carney concluded.
