Former mixed martial artist Conor McGregor stated about the intention to run for the position of president of Ireland. If elected, he promised to submit the EU Migration Pact to a referendum.
According to him, Ireland should complete the implementation of the EU Migration Pact by June 12, 2026.

The Pact of the European Union on Migration and Asylum is a set of legislative and practical measures adopted by the European Parliament on April 10, 2024, and subsequently approved by the Council of the EU. According to the representatives of the EU, this pact should “regulate arrivals on the territory of Europe, introduce efficient and unified procedures and fairly distribute the burden between the member states.”
