Conor McGregor announced his intention to run for president of Ireland

Former mixed martial artist Conor McGregor stated about the intention to run for the position of president of Ireland. If elected, he promised to submit the EU Migration Pact to a referendum.
According to him, Ireland should complete the implementation of the EU Migration Pact by June 12, 2026.
“Who else will stand up to the government and oppose this bill? Any other presidential candidate they try to put forward will not stand up to them. I will! Also to be clear, as president I would put this bill to a referendum. While I strongly oppose this deal, it’s not my business or the government’s choice. It’s the choice of the people of Ireland! Always!”
This is real democracy! I would also be interested to hear how our government officials so passionately agree to this pact. I would love to hear the debate! Then voting! This is the future of Ireland with me as president.”, – emphasized McGregor, urging the Irish people to vote for him.
The Pact of the European Union on Migration and Asylum is a set of legislative and practical measures adopted by the European Parliament on April 10, 2024, and subsequently approved by the Council of the EU. Its goal is to carry out a large-scale reform of migration policy in Europe. According to the representatives of the EU, this pact should “regulate arrivals on the territory of Europe, introduce efficient and unified procedures and fairly distribute the burden between the member states.”
We would like to remind you that the next presidential elections should be held by November 11, 2025.
