Imports of lard to Ukraine increased by more than 70% in two months
Poland remains the leader among suppliers of lard, pork fat and poultry fat to Ukraine. In the first two months of 2026, Ukraine imported 2.9 thousand tons of these products, which is 70.6% more than in the same period last year. This is reported by AgroTimes.
$3.3 million was spent on the purchase of lard, pork fat and poultry fat abroad in January-February, which is 65% higher than the figure for the same period in 2025.
Ukraine imported most of these products from Poland, whose share was 61.1%. The top three suppliers also included Germany with a share of 35.9% and Spain, which accounted for 2.4% of supplies. At the same time, a decrease in the price of lard was previously recorded in Ukraine. According to official data, in January, prices for pork, butter, poultry, sugar, rice and lard decreased by 2.2–0.5%.
Against the backdrop of price changes, the National Bank may revise its inflation forecast due to the increase in the cost of fuel at gas stations. At the same time, according to the regulator’s latest estimates, inflation will continue to remain close to the 5% target, and this level is expected to be reached in mid-2028.
Inflation should continue to decline in the coming months, in particular due to the impact of higher harvests in 2025. Overall, inflation is expected to slow to 7.5% in 2026.
