Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden will begin special officer training this year to gain a deeper knowledge of tactics, military science and military strategy. This is part of the preparation of the crown princess as the future head of state.

The officer training program is called SOFU (Special Officer Training) and is intended for people who already have a scientific degree. Its duration is from 20 to 25 months, depending on the availability of military experience. Education consists of both theoretical and practical components.
Crown Princess Victoria has undergone various forms of military training over the years to gain a basic understanding of the tasks and organization of the armed forces.
In May 2022, following Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Sweden revised its national security policy and applied to join NATO. In March 2024, the country officially joined the military alliance, becoming its 32nd member.
