The Armed Forces of Ukraine discussed the creation of Cyber Forces as a separate type of military. About this reported General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on October 23.
The draft Concept of the creation of Cyber Forces was discussed by representatives of the Defense Forces of Ukraine, people’s deputies of the Committee on Security, Defense and Intelligence of the Verkhovna Rada, as well as experts. The working meeting was held under the leadership of the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Lieutenant General Anatoliy Bargylevych.
The participants of the meeting considered the key provisions of the concept, based on the experience of the world’s leading countries regarding the creation and functioning of cyber armies. In addition, the practice of using the Ukrainian Armed Forces and other components of the Defense Forces in cyberspace during the repulsion of Russian aggression was analyzed.
The meeting also defined the main tasks and functions of the future Cyber Forces, aligning them with the distribution of powers between various structures of the security and defense sector responsible for actions in cyberspace.
The General Staff emphasized that the creation of Cyber Forces will significantly strengthen the potential of the Ukrainian army. This will ensure effective planning and execution of a wide range of tasks in cyberspace, which, along with land, sea, air and space, is recognized as a separate field of military operations.
