In Kyiv, a notary is accused of withdrawing a million hryvnias from the accounts of the deceased
In Kyiv, a private notary and three of her accomplices were notified of suspicion in the case of misappropriation of inheritance funds of two persons in the amount of over one million hryvnias. By information of the capital prosecutor’s office, a woman applied to the notary of the Kyiv notarial district for registration of inheritance after the death of her father.
The notary, having received the relevant requests, turned to the bank to establish the availability of the deceased’s accounts and the amount of funds on them. She received information from the banking institution that more than 850 thousand hryvnias were stored in the testator’s accounts. However, the woman was informed that there were only 112 hryvnias in the accounts.
Next, the notary together with an accomplice organized a search for a person who pretended to be the legal heir, using a forged certificate of the right to inheritance. On the basis of this forged document, the bogus person got access to 850 thousand hryvnias, which were then distributed among the participants of the scheme.
According to the same scheme, the notary and her accomplice took another 180,000 hryvnias from the accounts of another heiress, using a new cover person.
All four suspects — the notary and her three accomplices — have been officially notified of suspicion in this case.
