Deadly shooting at children’s hockey game in the US
In the city of Pawtucket in the USA, during a children’s hockey game, an shooting, which resulted in the deaths of three people and injuries. The incident was reported by the New York Post.
According to local authorities, 56-year-old Robert Dorgan, who opened fire, was among the dead. He also used the name Robert Esposito. After the attack, the man committed suicide. Three more victims are in critical condition in the hospital.
According to preliminary data, the shooter opened fire on his ex-wife, their three children and a family friend who came to the match as spectators. The woman died on the spot, one of the children was injured. The attacker reportedly had a mental disorder.
Eyewitnesses said that one of the bystanders managed to temporarily neutralize the man, but he had a second gun, with which he later shot himself.
“The shooter was my father. He shot my family, and now he is dead… He was very sick,” said the daughter of the deceased.
One of the young hockey players also shared his experiences. According to him, after the first shots were fired, the athletes rushed to the locker room and tried to barricade themselves.
“We were just trying to be safe… We pressed the door shut and sat there. It was very scary. We were very scared. There were a lot of shots,” the guy said.
The reasons for the attack are currently being clarified. The Boston branch of the FBI has joined the investigation.
Last year, a similar tragic incident occurred in New York near the headquarters of the National Football League – then four people died.
