The State Film Agency of Ukraine (Derzhkino) named domestic films that were recognized as successful in terms of investment efficiency.
“Here are a few successful films of the Ukrainian film industry, which are recognized as successful from the point of view of investment efficiency – “I, You, He, She” (2018), “Zakhar Berkut” (2019), “I, Victory and Berlin” (2021), “Dovbush” (2021), “Luxembourg, Luxembourg” (2022), “Mavka. Forest song” (2023), “20 days in Mariupol” (2023) and others”, says Derzhkino.
At the same time, to the question about how many films in the period from 2014 to 2025 partially or fully returned the state funding, the department answered that due to various forms of support in these years, it is impossible to provide complete information about the amounts that came to the state budget.
Derzhkino emphasized that a successful case is considered to be a film project that has proven not only profitability, but also the topicality of the subject, social significance, a high level of audience interest (thanks to box office collections, positive reviews, telecasts and release on streaming services), and has also gained international recognition – through participation and victories at festivals and competitions.
“Also, such a project can form new quality standards in domestic film production and confirm that Ukrainian cinema is profitable, influential and competitive at the national and international levels”, Derzhkino added.
