Drones attacked Cheboksary: powerful explosions were heard, a fire broke out
On the night of June 9, drones attacked Cheboksary, the capital of the Chuvash Republic of the Russian Federation. Powerful explosions rang out in the city, after which a fire broke out at one of the enterprises. The VNDIR plant (All-Russian Research Institute of Relay Construction) was hit, rosZMI reports.
The head of the Chuvash Republic Oleg Nikolaev confirmed the fact of the drone attack on the city. According to him, two UAVs allegedly “fell” on the territory of VNDIR, in connection with which “a responsible decision was made to temporarily suspend production to ensure the safety of employees.”
“All services work in enhanced mode, we keep the situation under full control,” Nikolaev noted.
The VNDIR plant specializes in the development and production of relay protection and automation systems for substations. In 2007, a separate unit was created under it – VNDIR-Progress, which is engaged in the development of radio-electronic systems for military equipment. The company’s activities include navigation and transport equipment, in particular GNSS receivers and antennas, including the Comet module for GLONASS/GPS/Galileo, the same type used in UAVs and Iskander-M and Kalibr missiles.
The plant also produces automatic switches, contact and non-contact equipment, relays — in particular for submarines of the “Yasen-M” project, and also develops software and hardware complexes for shipbuilding, energy and industry, including SDR, SCADA systems, electric drives. In addition, the enterprise is engaged in the production of electronic modules, applied computer and peripheral equipment, as well as SBIS elements.
