The United Kingdom handed over another batch of Storm Shadow missiles to Ukraine
Great Britain handed Ukraine an additional batch of Storm Shadow cruise missiles, about what informs Bloomberg with reference to sources in the British government. According to the publication, several dozen missiles were handed over in recent weeks in response to the shortage of long-range weapons in the arsenal of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
This was the first such decision by the Cabinet of the Prime Minister of Great Britain, Kier Starmer. The missiles were sent even before London officially allowed Kyiv to use these weapons to strike targets on Russian territory.
The exact date of delivery of Storm Shadow missiles and their number remain classified. It is only known that they were transferred before the decision of the USA and Britain to allow the use of long-range weapons to strike targets in Russia.
According to the report, the Ukrainian military used Storm Shadow for the first time to strike Russian targets last week. Prior to this, missiles were already used for attacks on occupied territories, in particular in Crimea.
British government officials have declined to comment on the missile transfer. The Ministry of Defense of Great Britain said that the disclosure of details could play into the hands of the Russian Federation. At the same time, the department emphasized that Britain’s support for Ukraine remains “unwavering”.
At the G20 summit held in Brazil, Prime Minister Keir Starmer confirmed the government’s intention to increase aid to Ukraine, announcing its “doubling”. At the same time, he refused to disclose details, stressing the strategic importance of maintaining confidentiality.
