Duda made a loud statement about the risk of Russian attacks on Ukrainian nuclear power plants

Polish President Andrzej Duda called for increased preparedness in the event of a possible Russian attack on Ukrainian nuclear power plants. He emphasized that in such a situation it is necessary to react immediately and take all necessary measures for protection. About this informs RAR edition, quoting Duda’s statement made on Wednesday, September 25.

The head of the Polish state reminded that Russia had already carried out attacks on the Zaporizhzhya and Chornobyl nuclear power plants, but a large-scale nuclear disaster was avoided. However, according to him, the threat of new attacks on other nuclear facilities of Ukraine, in particular the Rivne and Khmelnytsky NPPs, remains quite real.

“There is this danger of an attack on other power plants – be it Rivne or Khmelnytsky – and it must be taken into account. If there are attacks, it will be necessary to immediately intervene in this matter, call in experts.”Duda said.

Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi warned at the UN General Assembly that Russia plans to attack Ukrainian nuclear power plants with the support of its allies in order to disconnect them from the national energy system. Zelensky emphasized that such actions could have catastrophic consequences for the whole world.

“If, God forbid, Russia causes a nuclear disaster at one of our nuclear power plants, radiation does not respect national borders and, unfortunately, various countries may suffer from these devastating consequences.”, — said Zelensky.

The President of Poland emphasized the need for international cooperation and coordination of actions to prevent possible threats, as well as ensuring the safety of Ukraine’s nuclear facilities in the face of Russian aggression.
