Egypt will stop buying grain from Russia exported from the occupied territories of Ukraine

Egypt will no longer purchase grain that the Russian side illegally exports from the temporarily occupied Ukrainian territories. President Volodymyr Zelensky reported this following a conversation with his Egyptian counterpart Abdel Fattah al-Sisi.

“Mr. President reported that Egypt will no longer accept grain exported by Russia from our temporarily occupied territories and at the same time is interested in increasing grain imports from Ukraine. Thank you for this decision. Egypt is also ready to make efforts to achieve a decent peace. We agreed that the foreign ministers will be in contact,” Zelensky noted.

In addition, the heads of state discussed the situation in the Middle East and the Gulf region, as well as its impact on the global oil market.

“I informed about our meetings and agreements with the countries of the region. Ukraine has significant potential for military-technical cooperation, and we are ready to work in this direction with Egypt as well. We also talked about other areas for the development of bilateral cooperation between our countries. We will work on this,” Zelensky added.

As of the end of March, Russia had made 31 dry cargo flights with stolen Ukrainian grain from the occupied territories of Ukraine.
