Eight countries have joined the EU’s decision to transfer revenues from Russian assets to Ukraine

Eight countries have joined the decision of the European Union to transfer to Ukraine revenues from taxation of excess profits of frozen Russian assets.

The candidate countries North Macedonia, Montenegro, Albania, Ukraine and Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as the countries of the European Free Trade Area Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway join this decision of the Council”, the statement says.

It is noted that countries will ensure compliance of their national policies with this decision.

The European Union takes note of this commitment and welcomes it”, – stated in Borrell’s statement.

It will be recalled that Josep Borrell previously confirmed the EU countries’ agreement on the use of revenues from frozen Russian assets for the purchase of weapons for Ukraine. The first tranche of aid should amount to 1.4 billion euros. According to preliminary estimates, the total amount of frozen assets may reach up to 200 billion euros.
