Former US President Bill Clinton to testify in closed session in Epstein case

Former US President Bill Clinton is set to give private testimony to Congress about his contacts with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Reuters reports.

The hearing is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. local time (6:00 p.m. Kyiv time). It will take place after the testimony of his wife, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, who told the House Oversight Committee that she did not recall meetings with Epstein and had no information about his crimes.

At the same time, it is known that Bill Clinton used Epstein’s plane several times in the early 2000s after the end of his presidential term. Among the materials released by the US Department of Justice are also photographs of him with women whose faces were hidden. The ex-president denies any wrongdoing and says he regrets his ties to the financier.

The chairman of the oversight committee, Republican James Comer, noted that the Clintons are not accused of any wrongdoing, but they must answer questions about Epstein’s possible contacts with their charitable foundation.

The publication by the US Department of Justice of millions of pages of case materials caused a wide resonance not only in America, but also in Europe – in particular in Norway and the UK, where the scandal affected members of the royal families. The brother of the King of Great Britain, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, lost his title of prince after the scandal and became the first member of the royal family in three centuries to be detained for questioning.

At the same time, CNN journalists reported that about a hundred important documents may be missing from the published materials, including an interview with a woman who made accusations against current US President Donald Trump.
