Political campaign revealed hidden facts about Ukraine: Georgian PM

Prime Minister of Georgia Iraklii Kobakhidze commented on the scandalous pre-election banners of the ruling party “Georgian Dream”, which compare war-ravaged buildings in Ukraine with restored buildings in Georgia.  He stated this on the air of the Imedi TV channel.

According to Kobakhidze, Georgian society did not have enough information about the situation in Ukraine before, and the advertising campaign of his party “exposed” the truth about what is happening.

“In fact, the public did not have full and adequate information about what is happening in Ukraine, and these billboards… expose lies… Because of this, people who tried to present the situation in Ukraine as desirable for Georgian society are worried.”Kobakhidze noted.

He also pointed out that the criticism of the banners comes from opponents of the government — in particular, political forces and non-governmental organizations.

In the “Georgian Dream” pre-election advertisement, footage of the war in Ukraine is used to scare voters and warn them about the possible consequences of voting for the opposition.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine previously stated that the use of the consequences of Russian aggression against Ukraine in the political advertising of the ruling party of Georgia is unacceptable.
