Elegance and speed: the fastest Maybach in history is presented (photo)
The new Mercedes-Maybach SL680 Monogram Series is a luxurious convertible with a premium interior.

A new member has been added to the luxury Mercedes-Maybach line – the SL680 Monogram Series convertible, joining the S-Class sedan and the GLS crossover. This model was the first sports version of the brand in almost 90 years. The presentation of the car took place at the retro car show in California, about what reported on the official website of the German automaker.
The model is based on the Mercedes-AMG SL63, but has several features that set it apart from the rest. The Maybach cabriolet can be recognized by the signature radiator grille, which is called the “mouth”. In addition, fairings are installed behind the seats, and the car’s finish traditionally includes many chrome elements. The wheels with a diameter of 21 inches are made in a retro style, and the hood and soft roof are decorated with patterns with the Maybach logo.

The interior of the Mercedes-Maybach SL680 Monogram Series is decorated with high-quality materials such as expensive Nappa leather, aluminum and wood. The graphics on the digital instrument panel and on the screen of the multimedia system have been updated, adding exclusivity. Unlike other Mercedes-AMG SL models, this variant is a two-seater, which emphasizes its sporty character.

As for technical characteristics, the engine remained unchanged. The convertible is equipped with a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8, producing 585 hp, mated to a 9-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive. Acceleration to 100 km/h takes 4.1 seconds, and the maximum speed is limited to 260 km/h.

It is the fastest production Maybach in history, although it is slightly behind the standard Mercedes SL63 in speed. However, the convertible from Maybach provides a higher level of comfort: it has improved noise insulation, a quieter exhaust and a softer air suspension, which makes driving it even more pleasant.
