Elon Musk announced the presentation of a prototype of a “flying car” by the end of this year
Billionaire and Tesla CEO Elon Musk said in an interview on the podcast “The Joe Rogan Experience” that the company will introduce a prototype of a “flying car” by the end of this year.
The conversation began with a question about the second-generation Tesla Roadster, introduced in 2017, with plans to launch in 2020. Production has been postponed several times, and the model has not yet been launched into production. Musk avoided specific answers about the Roadster, but hinted at preparing an “unforgettable” demonstration of a new prototype.
During the interview, he recalled the words of his friend, investor Peter Thiel, who believed that the future should include flying cars. According to Musk, if there is a demand for such transport, then it should be available for purchase.
He noted that the new vehicle that Tesla is working on “looks like a car”, but did not specify whether it will have folding wings or a vertical take-off and landing system. Musk added that he was not yet ready to disclose technical details, but called the development one that contains “crazy technology”.
It is worth recalling that Musk has repeatedly made overly optimistic forecasts regarding the timing of the implementation of his projects. In particular, in March of this year, he said that Tesla plans to produce at least 5,000 Optimus humanoid robots by the end of 2025, although the company’s engineers considered this task unrealistic. Similarly, the first launch of SpaceX’s Falcon Heavy rocket took place almost five years later than Musk’s original plans.
