Estonian intelligence reports extremely dangerous situation on the front in Ukraine

The Estonian Defense Forces Intelligence Center stated that due to the massive use of drones, the situation on the front in Ukraine has become unprecedentedly “transparent”, and the battlefield itself is more dangerous than ever before. This is discussed in another report that analyzes changes over the four years of Russia’s full-scale war against Ukraine.

“The battlefield is now dominated by drones of various types, it has become unprecedentedly “transparent” and more dangerous than ever before. Breakthroughs have been replaced by infiltration tactics, they are trying to cut off parts of the front from logistical support and fragment them, and with the help of high-precision strikes at long distances, they are trying to weaken the enemy’s will and ability to continue the war,” the review notes.

According to intelligence estimates, this week the intensity of hostilities has decreased somewhat – on average, about 170 combat clashes were recorded per day. At the same time, Ukrainian units continued active defense and counterattacks, in particular in the Kupyansk, Novopavlivske, Oleksandrivske and Hulyaipil directions, as well as in the western part of the Zaporizhia region.

“According to various estimates, in February Ukrainian units liberated from 200 to 400 square kilometers of Ukrainian territory and continue to repel the aggressor”, the intelligence center reported.

Tallinn also noted that Russia’s military results remain limited, and according to some indicators, its situation at the beginning of the fifth year of the war is even worse than before 2022.

“At this time, the Russian Federation managed to occupy 20% of the territory of Ukraine, while during 2025 less than one percent of the territories were captured. Russia lost from 1.2 to 1.3 million military personnel in the war. During 2025, when infantry began to dominate attacks in the conditions of drone warfare, Russia lost an average of 90 people for each captured square kilometer,” the summary says.

Earlier, French President Emmanuel Macron said that Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine turned into a triple failure for Moscow.
