EU Council approves €4.2 billion emergency tranche for Ukraine

Ukraine will soon receive more than 4.2 billion euros in funding. Council of the EU approved the allocation of the second tranche of grants and loans within the framework of the EU Program for Ukraine, which is aimed at ensuring the macro-financial stability of the country and supporting its public administration.

“The Council came to the conclusion that Ukraine has fulfilled the necessary conditions and reforms provided for in the Plan of Ukraine for receiving the funds that will be paid from the Fund of Ukraine”, the message says.

The agency also emphasizes the urgency of providing financial assistance due to the difficult economic situation in the country. Ukraine’s plan envisages a set of measures for the recovery, reconstruction and modernization of the state, as well as the implementation of reforms necessary for progress towards EU membership in the next four years.

Earlier, in May 2024, the Council of the EU confirmed the fulfillment of the previous conditions for providing Ukraine with up to 50 billion euros of aid through the Ukraine Fund. The first tranche of 4.2 billion euros was paid in August.
