During a speech at the UN Security Council, the Permanent Representative of the European Union to the UN, Stavros Lambrinidis, stated that Russia continues to use food as a weapon, deliberately undermining global food security. This is reported by “Ukrinform”.

Russia and its leadership must bear full responsibility for waging a war of aggression and other serious crimes under international law, as well as for the huge losses caused by the war“, Lambrinidis emphasized.

He emphasized that impunity for Russia’s international crimes threatens to sink into a “very dark world.” According to him, the Russian leadership should bear responsibility for the aggressive war and other serious violations of international law, as well as for the huge losses caused by the war.

The European diplomat also recalled the six arrest warrants issued by the International Criminal Court, in particular for the President of the Russian Federation for the illegal deportation of Ukrainian children.

Lambrinidis emphasized that the EU supports a comprehensive, just and lasting peace in Ukraine, which should be based on the UN Charter. In order to achieve peace, Russia, as the aggressor, must withdraw its troops from the entire territory of Ukraine, and any peace initiatives must be based on the principles of international law, as stipulated by the resolutions of the UN General Assembly.

“We call on all countries that want a just and lasting peace, including the participants of the upcoming BRICS summit in Russia, to loudly and clearly convey this UN message to the leadership of the Russian FederationLambrinidis noted.
