Eurovision 2026 dates and venue announced
Austria determined the city that will host Eurovision 2026. The competition will be held in Vienna. The semi-finals are scheduled for May 12 and 14, and the grand final is scheduled for May 16 at the Wiener Stadthalle, the country’s largest indoor arena.
Vienna will host traditional events throughout the week, including EuroVillage, EuroClub and other events. This will be the third time that Vienna will host the Eurovision Song Contest.
The contest was held in the city for the first time in 1967, after the victory of Udo Jürgens with the song Merci Chérie in 1966. The second time was in 2015, when, thanks to the success of Conchita Wurst, Vienna hosted the 60th anniversary competition. In 2026, the 70th Eurovision Song Contest will be symbolically held here.
“The magnificent Wiener Stadthalle has already been a great venue for the 60th competition in 2015 and we look forward to welcoming delegations, performers and fans again next May, when the world’s biggest live music event celebrates 70 years under the slogan United By Music. Together with ORF and the city of Vienna, we will create a grand celebration of music that will resonate around the world.” — said Martin Green, director of the Eurovision Song Contest.
The mayor of Vienna, Michael Ludwig, said that he is looking forward to welcoming guests from all over the world in 2026:
“In Vienna, we can be proud that our city has been chosen by the European Broadcasting Union and ORF as the most suitable host city for one of the biggest events in the world.”
He also emphasized that the city’s application focused on holding a large number of Eurovision events in public spaces, which can be visited for free.
