Ex-French President Sarkozy was put on an electronic bracelet

Former French President Nicolas Sarkozy, convicted in the case of wiretapping, was given an electronic bracelet. About this informs LeParisien.

Earlier, France’s Supreme Court rejected Sarkozy’s appeal in the wiretapping case, ultimately finding him guilty of bribery and abuse of influence. The ex-president was sentenced to one year in prison with electronic monitoring.

The 70-year-old Sarkozy can apply for parole, as French law allows people over 70 to do so. He previously stated that he “decided to come to terms with the deep injustice that was done to him.”

Sarkozy will wear an electronic tracking bracelet on his leg and will have a limited time to leave the house. Now the former president is visiting a Paris court three times a week, where another trial continues until April 10 – regarding the alleged Libyan financing of his 2007 election campaign.
