NATO Secretary General to make statement on North Korean troops’ participation in war
On October 28, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte plans to make a statement about the introduction of North Korean troops into the territory of Russia. This news caused serious concern among Allies and partners in the Indo-Pacific region. As informs press service of NATO, a special meeting of the North Atlantic Council will be held in Brussels today, where a delegation from South Korea will present a report on the transfer of North Korean troops to the Russian Federation. After the briefing, Mark Rutte is expected to address the press with an official statement on the situation.
Representatives of NATO partner states from the Indo-Pacific region, including Australia, Japan and New Zealand, will also be present at the meeting, underscoring the importance of the issue for regional security and cooperation between allies.
Several countries have already confirmed the deployment of North Korean military forces on the territory of Russia. In particular, according to Ukrainian intelligence, the first North Korean soldiers arrived in the Kursk region, and some North Korean officers are already training Russian soldiers in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine. The Kremlin, in particular President Putin, does not directly deny this information, but instead reminds of the current treaty with the DPRK, which provides for the possibility of such cooperation.
Against the background of the aggravation of the situation, South Korea declared its readiness to consider the issue of providing military aid to Ukraine.
