Families raising children with disabilities of subgroup A can receive portable charging stations
Providing a stable power supply for children with disabilities of subgroup A is critically important, especially in wartime, when power outages can directly threaten life and health. For such children, electrical appliances used in the medical and rehabilitation sector are not household conveniences, but a necessity for maintaining life. The launch of the government program to provide portable charging stations is a significant step towards ensuring safe conditions for children who are most dependent on electricity.
Program launch and current implementation
The government has begun implementing another program, under which families raising children with disabilities of subgroup A will receive portable charging stations with an estimated capacity of 2 kWh. A total of 10,000 such devices have been purchased, and some are already being delivered directly to families through Ukrposhta JSC. As Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko reported, the first 4,000 stations have already been delivered to their recipients, and the delivery of the rest is expected in the near future. Assistance can be received by one of the parents, guardian or legal representative of the child.
The program has clear criteria for receiving assistance: children under 18 years of age with disabilities of subgroup A who are in Ukraine can count on receiving a device, and in families with several children, each of them receives a separate station. Parents, guardians and legal representatives, as well as employees of family-type orphanages, foster families, institutions for orphans, foster carers or families where a child is temporarily placed, are eligible to apply.
Details and organizational structure
The program is implemented by the State Energy Efficiency Agency through the Decarbonization Fund of Ukraine JSC in cooperation with the Ministry of Social Policy, the Ministry of Energy, the Pension Fund of Ukraine and Ukrposhta JSC. The purchase of devices is carried out with the funds of the State Decarbonization and Energy Efficient Transformation Fund. They allow you to accumulate and store electricity, ensuring the uninterrupted operation of critical medical devices at home.
During the first week of the program, more than 7,000 families applied for stations, which indicates high demand and urgent need for such devices among families with children with disabilities. Market assessment shows that similar devices abroad are cheaper: for example, Bluetti is about 60% lower than the Ukrainian price, and EcoFlow is a quarter cheaper. However, the state program guarantees address delivery and processing of all necessary documents without additional financial costs for families.
Procedure for obtaining a portable charging station
The process of obtaining equipment is divided into several stages. In the first step, the applicant contacts the nearest service center of the Pension Fund, fills out the form and attaches a copy of the document on the child’s status, presenting an identity card.
In the second stage, the territorial bodies of the Pension Fund check the submitted information and, in case of inconsistency, notify the applicant.
Furthermore, a verified list of recipients is formed every Friday, which is transferred to JSC “Decarbonization Fund of Ukraine”. The last stage involves the transfer of devices to “Ukrposhta” for address delivery to the branches specified in the application.
This program is of particular importance, since for children with disabilities of subgroup A, stable power supply is not an abstract convenience, but a condition for life. The ability to ensure the operation of medical devices at any time allows families to maintain peace of mind and confidence in the safety of their children, even during power outages, which often occur during war. In addition, the program simplifies access to modern energy-saving technologies, which further increases the level of support for vulnerable families and reduces risks to children’s health.
