Fico accused Zelensky of attempting to bribe for facilitating Ukraine’s accession to NATO
Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico said that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky allegedly offered him a bribe of 500 million euros from Russian frozen assets in exchange for supporting Ukraine’s accession to NATO. About this informs Political.
According to Fico, during the meeting with Zelensky at the summit of the European Union, Slovakia’s financial losses due to the termination of Russian gas transit were discussed.
“Fico said that after he told Zelensky that Slovakia could lose about 500 million euros in gas transit fees a year, the Ukrainian president “asked me if I would then vote for NATO membership if he gave me 500 million euros of Russian assets, and of course I said: “never”, says the message.
The leader of Slovakia called Zelensky’s proposal “absurd” and said that such actions harm the economy of the EU member state.
“We are clearly facing a gas crisis thanks to President Zelensky”, he noted.
