Fico makes a statement about the imminent end of the war in Ukraine

Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico said that Russia’s war against Ukraine may end in the near future, although achieving a just peace under the current conditions is unlikely for Kyiv. About this informs Reuters agency.

“The probability of ending the war in Ukraine in the short term is very high”, – noted Fico during his speech at the meeting of the parliamentary committee on European affairs before his departure for the EU summit.

He expects that the meeting of the European Council will clarify when the end of the war can happen, especially after the question of inviting Ukraine to NATO came up again on the agenda. However, Fizo expressed the opinion that such an invitation would not be “free.”

The Prime Minister emphasized his desire to see a just peace for Ukraine, but emphasized that achieving such a peace may be impossible in the current conditions.

Fico confirmed that his government supports the territorial integrity of Ukraine and is ready to support any peace plan that will contribute to the settlement of the conflict. He also noted that peace negotiations will be one of the topics of his visit to China, stressing that he has always sought balanced relations with Russia.

Robert Fitso noted that reality should be recognized: Russia will not give up Crimea, Donetsk and Luhansk. In his opinion, the conflict has no military solution, and the Russian side continues to seize new territories.

According to Fico, Slovakia continues to provide humanitarian aid to Ukraine, and the most urgent support is the supply of electricity. He also expects cooperation from Ukraine regarding the transit of oil and gas, stressing that he has no intention of importing oil through the Adriatic, as this will lead to a significant increase in costs.
