Finland and Sweden started preparing the population for war and emergencies

Finland and Sweden are preparing to update instructions for their citizens in case of war or other crisis situations. As informs the Finnish edition of Helsingin Sanomat, new recommendations will be available after November 18.

In Sweden, special brochures with detailed instructions will be distributed to citizens, and websites will be launched in both countries, where you can find information about actions in war conditions, civil defense, evacuation, as well as the basics of self-defense. A separate chapter will be devoted to the issue of mental resilience during crises: how to prepare yourself for such events while maintaining the ability to function, help others and strengthen the spirit of the community.

The recommendations will also detail what food supplies to have at home. In Sweden, it is advised to have a week’s supply of food, while in Finland, at least three days’ supply is recommended.

Historically, Sweden first issued such instructions during World War II, and since then they have been periodically updated. However, in the last few decades, these brochures were considered unnecessary.

In Finland, the updated guide will be available exclusively online at the Suomi.fi portal, where citizens will be able to get all the information they need to prepare for crisis situations.
