Former head of the SBU of the Kharkiv region Roman Dudin was re-arrested immediately after being released from pre-trial detention

Former head of the SBU Department in the Kharkiv region, Roman Dudin, was re-arrested immediately after he was released from pre-trial detention on bail. This is stated in a video from Dudin’s Facebook page and in a comment by his lawyer Oleksandr Kozhevnikov.

It is noted that on December 25, Dudin left the pre-trial detention center after paying bail. Lawyers and several people were waiting for him near the institution. Immediately after leaving, law enforcement officers in uniforms with the chevrons of the State Bureau of Investigation approached him, after which the ex-head of the SBU was put in a car. According to preliminary data, he was to be handed a new suspicion.

The SBI has not yet officially commented on the circumstances of the re-arrest.

Roman Dudin is suspected of treason and unauthorized abandonment of his place of service under martial law. The day before, on December 24, bail in the amount of 4.2 million hryvnias was posted for him.

According to the lawyer, the funds for the bail were provided by the so-called “American partners.” After confirming the payment, the information could reach the State Bureau of Investigation, and after that, the bureau’s employees appeared near the pre-trial detention center.

Kozhevnikov also stated that during the detention he and other defense attorneys were not allowed to see the client, and Dudin was assigned a free state lawyer. The reasons for the detention, according to him, were not explained.

The lawyer added that the former head of the SBU is again accused of the same actions as before – in particular, it concerns the seizure of the office of the head of the Kharkiv OVA, Oleg Synegubov.

“He is now accused of seizing Synegubov’s office – something that is currently spelled out in our case under Article 111, in the indictment. This new suspicion is actually, I apologize, sucked out of the finger. We have already investigated it with the materials of the criminal proceedings, investigated it in court, questioned witnesses who informed us that no such element, which the prosecutor now refers to in his report of suspicion, existed and did not exist. That is, in this case we see only that the authorities, or the Prosecutor General’s Office, or the State Bureau of Investigation are simply afraid that Roman will come out and provide some information that will resonate for society, Kozhevnikov said.
