Former head of Ukrenergo Volodymyr Kudrytskyi released from pretrial detention center on bail
Former head of NEC “Ukrenergo” Volodymyr Kudrytskyi was released from pretrial detention after posting bail. He was ordered to appear when summoned, not to leave Kyiv without permission, surrender his passports, refrain from contact with witnesses, and wear an electronic bracelet. This was reported by lawyer Mykola Grabyk.
The lawyer refused to disclose information about the individuals who posted bail for Kudrytskyi:
“This is a company, but I cannot say who exactly contributed the funds. I would not like to comment because I do not know if they will want publicity. This person is not related to Mr. Volodymyr. These are sympathetic citizens who have funds. We decided to help in this way in life.
Despite posting bail, Volodymyr Kudrytskyi plans to file an appeal, as he considers yesterday’s court decision unfair.
As a reminder, Kudrytskyi is suspected of abuse of office due to signing a contract with a company to build a fence, which was not executed. The tender was held in 2018, the company received an advance payment, but did not perform the work. “Ukrenergo” later returned the funds by collecting the bank guarantee issued for this advance payment.
During the court hearing on October 29, Volodymyr Kudrytskyi denied all charges. He emphasized that there are no facts or documents in the case materials that would indicate his influence or involvement in the conclusion of a bank guarantee agreement between the company that won the tender and the bank “Concord”.
On October 28, SBI officers detained a former official in the Lviv region. The State Bureau of Investigation reported that he was detained on suspicion of committing a crime under Part 4 of Article 190 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – fraud committed by a group of persons in a particularly large amount in advance.
The next day, October 29, the Pecherskyi Court of Kyiv chose a preventive measure for Kudrytskyi – detention for a period of two months in custody within the framework of the case of abuse of official position and illegal appropriation of funds of a state company.
